Guess what? Today I was seriously craving Chinese food and this Whole30 egg roll in a bowl hit the spot without derailing my efforts. The flavors are amazing and I didn’t even miss the egg roll wrapper.

Following the Whole30 program doesn’t mean I have to be deprived of my favorite foods. It just means I have to be more creative and work around the things I am trying to avoid. I also enjoy tricking my family into eating healthy Whole30 compliant food.

Fake Out Take Out Whole30 Cauliflower Fried Rice

When I was craving fried rice I made this faux Cauliflower Fried Rice that has become a family favorite. (Even the family members that don’t follow the Whole30 program love it.)

Whole30 orange chicken sprinkled with sesame seeds and green onions

When my daughter asked for Orange Chicken I was able to pull the meal together without anyone knowing it was totally Whole30 compliant. Another win for me at the dinner table.

What I love most about this Whole30 Egg Roll recipe is that the flavors from the sesame oil, rice vinegar, garlic and ginger are amazing. Also, you can make endless variations depending on what vegetables and meats you have on hand. (Meat is optional.)

Whole30 Egg Roll Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork or ground chicken
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped carrots
  • 1 cabbage head, shredded thinly (or a bag of coleslaw)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 3 tbsp coconut aminos (soy if you aren’t doing Whole30)
  • 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • sliced green onions, for garnish
  • sesame seeds, for garnish

Whole30 Egg Roll Cooking Instructions

  1. Heat sesame oil on medium heat and brown ground pork with onion and carrots
  2. Add garlic and spices along with coconut aminos and rice wine vinegar
  3. Add cabbage, stir frequently and cook until it is slightly wilted
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste, garnish with green onion and sprinkle with sesame seeds

Serve up your Whole30 Egg Roll in a bowl and dig in with your chopsticks or in my case a chork (chopstick fork) which can be purchased online {affiliate link}. If you happen to have any leftovers, the egg roll in a bowl reheats well and tastes just as good the next day.
