My Simple & Traditional Christmas House Tour

Welcome to my simple and traditional Christmas House Tour. The simple Christmas House Tour idea came from a conversation with my blogger friends when we were discussing those extravagant home tours with over the top decorations perfectly staged like a magazine. I have been looking at brunswick, ga new homes for sale for a while now, but I decided that it was too stressful moving house just before or after Christmas. There is so much that you have to think about when moving, for example, whether or not you want to hire a moving company to help or just rent a van and do it yourself. Not the mention if you decide to rent a van you’ll have to think about getting any driver van insurance to make sure that you’re are covered during the move. While there are a lot of great deals on insurance out there, we have decided to stay for now! I have to admit, while looking there were a lot of really nice houses, house hunting is pretty nice I saw a few I liked, for example, there was a place in somewhere like voyager village wi that was very nice, and I wondered what it would look like covered in Christmas decor like in the magazines, then I thought maybe it would be a little too much.

Don’t get me wrong, I too love to look at those magazine worthy homes but my Christmas décor is simple and traditional with a bit of whimsy and nostalgia. My home tour is about “keeping it real” and sharing with you the collections, traditions and decorations I have assembled over the last 28 years as we have moved coast to coast.

Christmas House Tour – Christmas Tree(s)

In my house, we have not one but two fake Christmas trees. {Just “keeping it real” here.} I don’t have the time or patience for tending to a real tree but I do love the smell of a real tree. I compensate with my favorite scent of Fresh Balsam candles and plugins. My house smells like a Christmas tree lot and I love it.

Of course, we have the traditional green pine tree with big, fluffy branches and it sits perfectly in my Grandma’s rotating tree stand that plays music. Click here to can see a video of my tree rotating. I can literally sit and peacefully be hypnotized for hours as I watch my tree rotate.

We also have a scraggly, white, pre-lit tree with sparse branches that I load up with red, silver and glass ornaments. Ironically, as much as I love my traditional green pine tree, I fall in love with the white tree more and more each year.

Christmas House Tour – The Mantle

My mantle is decorated with a Santa collection that has grown over the years and I kept with the traditional colors of red and green associated with Christmas. The Ho-Ho-Ho-Ho-Ho-Ho stocking hangers play well with my Santa collection and hold our 6 stockings.

Christmas House Tour- The Village

The very first building that started our village collection was this Starbucks that I picked up at a garage sale for less than $5. My husband is responsible for putting up the village and I love that all of the buildings are so random and from different collections.

My village has one tiny log cabin and a ton of bottle brush trees and brass deer. Much easier to put up too.

Christmas House Tour – Nutcrackers

The first Christmas decoration I ever received was a Nutcracker from my best friend’s Mom and it started another collection. I have Nutcrackers in all sizes including a 2 foot mouse but my favorite is the sailor from 2005 which is also the year my husband retired from the Navy.

Christmas House Tour – Personal Touches

I love adding some personal touches to my décor. I cherish the stuffed reindeer that my Grandma made 40 years ago.

I must have gotten my crafty genes from my Grandma because just yesterday I added this fun Jingle Bell Picture Frame to my buffet.

There is a saying that if you see a cardinal it is a loved one that has passed coming to visit you. This cardinal stays out all the time because I like repeat visits from my son.

Susanne…..the base of the tree rotates and play music that sounds like a music box. I am going to post a vide of it later this week. It is hypnotizing.

Denise, Your home is beautiful! I have a rotating tree that I have owned for 10 years and last year it stopped rotating. I hate to buy another one because my non rotating tree is still in good condition. Enjoy yours and have a Merry Christmas!

Sherry…..you can get replacement rings that make the tree rotate. My hubby had to open ours and after a few trips to the hardware store it was back up and spinning.

Im sure you already know I’m going to say this, but I’m totally digging your white Christmas tree!!! ?? And I love your cardinal. I think most people don’t know that about about them…I didn’t say anything to anyone at the table at the time, but at my birthday dinner at a fancy restaurant, a cardinal visited outside the window in the courtyard and it warmed my heart. I’m so glad you have one out all the time.?❤ love your home, sweet friend. ?
