Playing outdoor yard games with my family has definitely been one of my summer highlights thus far as well as shopping at the flea markets, traveling and working on my DIY projects.
Living in the mid-west provides many challenges with the weather and drastic temperature changes so I have to take full advantage of the long summer days. Having our backyard games easily accessible makes for lots of fun, laughter and happy memories that we can add to the Memory Jar.
Outdoor Yard Games #1 – DIY Pallet Dartboard
This DIY Outdoor Dartboard was on my list of 5 DIY Father’s Day Gifts. Not only has it brought us many hours of family fun but our friends and neighbors have enjoyed it as well. This game has been a huge hit.
Outdoor Yard Games #2 – DIY Hopscotch Stepping Stones
Of all the games in our collection, these DIY Hopscotch Stepping Stones have brought back the best childhood memories for me except this hopscotch doesn’t get washed away in the rain and it adds some bright color to the garden.
Outdoor Yard Games #3 – Jumbo Wooden Dice
So far, I have to say, these Jumbo Wooden Dice are my favorite of the games in our collection. There are so many different games you can play with dice. We have been playing the game of 10,000 which was a game we regularly played with my mother-in-law. We’re definitely enjoying the entertainment and happy memories.
Outdoor Yard Games #4 – Tic-Tac-Toe
Tic-Tac-Toe has got to be one of the easiest games and something that can be played over and over in any setting. This Tic-Tac-Toe game featured at 1915 House is simply made from painted rocks. Cute, clever and creative….my kind of DIY project.
Outdoor Yard Games #5 – Customized Cornhole Board
Making a customized Cornhole board has been on the list of yard games for a while. We have a lot of BBQ’s and birthday celebrations during the summer and I can see this game bringing us lots of entertainment. The Handyman’s Daughter has provided a material list along with step by step instructions on how to make your own customized Cornhole board.
Even though we’ve only made three of these outdoor yard games there is still plenty of time to add Tic-Tac-Toe and a Cornhole Board to our collection. My friend was telling me about how north carolina lawn care improved their garden so it would be a lot easier for them to enjoy the previously mentioned yard games.
Thanks for featuring my tic tac toe game, Denise! <3 You're such a dear. I'm also loving those huge dice! My boys would love them….adding them to my "to do" list. 😉 Great round up of fun games!
Happy to feature your tic-tac-toe game and YES….your boys will love the jumbo dice. Lots of fun.
Great collection! I’m loving that cute tic tac toe board and the huge dice!
Thank you Lydia….lots of summer fun.
We bought not built many, many outdoor games this year. I can’t believe how many new ones are out that we had never seen before. But of all that we purchased the only one we bought was the corn hole. The rest that you have are new for us. I also think the dice would be so much fun. I’m gonna look into making a set of those! Just wondering – I wanted an outdoor bowling set. The ones I saw online were either crazy expensive or not worth having. Haven’t seen any in a vintage shop or I would snatch them up. Is that something you think you could make? I would totally love to see a tutorial on it!
I am not sure which is my favorite but I love that they are all DIY ideas!
Love the hopscotch stones! My granddaughters would love that!! I enjoy playing corn hole, but I am awful at it, lol!! Thank you for sharing your outdoor game roundup with us at TaDa Thursday!!
