Each month I team up with my blogging friends and share a craft project with you made from supplies I have been hoarding collecting. We call it the Craft Room De-Stash Challenge. Today I am sharing how I made this personalized monogrammed luggage tag for my daughter’s suitcase but it can also be used on a backpack as well.
After I shared the monogram note cards last week I was inspired to do some paper crafting of my own. Soon my daughter will be traveling abroad for a few weeks on exchange and she recently purchased a new set of London Fog luggage {aff link}. She was going to buy luggage tags and I put my foot down and got busy making her a personalized monogrammed luggage tag.
Personalized Monogrammed Luggage Tag

Believe it or not, in my past life I did paper crafting for a living and still have a huge stash of supplies. Although most of my supplies are packed away I had no problem gathering the items needed to make this personalized monogrammed luggage tag.
I found a pack of We R Memory Keepers pattern papers {aff link} in my stash of supplies. I have no idea how old these papers are so I can’t link you to the exact set but there is a huge selection available online or better yet, use what you already have on hand.
I also had a set of clear plastic, name badge holders {aff link} in my stash from a past project so I easily converted it into a personalized monogrammed luggage tag by attaching a steel wire loop my hubby had in his garage stash.
I didn’t want her personal information showing on the back of the tag so I just added her name and some more layers of paper on the flip side of the tag. If you pull out the paper insert it opens like a card and I added her name, email address and my phone number.
It literally took me longer to gather my supplies than it took me to make this personalized monogrammed luggage tag. My daughter loved it and added it to her suite case immediately and she quickly asked me to make a matching tag for her carry-on bag. My other daughter has hinted around that she would like a tag for her school backpack. I see more personalized monogrammed luggage tags in my future. My daughter’s friend had a lovely suitcase. I think she told me that it suitcases were so practical and pretty!
This is so cute, what a beautiful and unique gift. With all the bags looking the same this is a great way to help identify your bag on the luggage carousel.
Thank Toni….yes, I was explaining to her that she needs to steer clear of black luggage and to add something identifiable to her suitcase so she can find it easily. This should work.
Love Love Love this idea! Your daughter will have the best looking luggage going around!
I think so too Sam!
Great job! The colors are so fun. I love the idea of making your own luggage tag, I don’t know why I never thought of it, lol! These would be cute on a diaper bag for church nursery or day care too. I have a friend who is a new mom, I may have to create one for her 🙂 Thanks for the inspiration, pinning now
Oh my….I thought about luggage and backpack but diaper bag would be cute too. Great shower gift idea.
What a CUTE luggage tag! No way anyone else will have the exact same one. Your daughter will recognize her bags very quickly! -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
Yep…can’t miss this fancy tag on her suitcase.
Luggage tags are so nicely and the fancier the better. You just need to go through baggage collection once to make sure you have one. I really like this design, its so different and fun.
I agree….the fancier the better.
So cute! I’ll have to come up with a “manly” version for my son before he heads to college. My scrapbook stash runs a close second to my fabric stash! 😉
Hahaha….yes a manly version would be needed for the boys. I am guessing sports themed would be fun too.
Oh my goodness, so cute!! Love this! Great way to use some of those paper crafting supplies that pile up.
Thank you. Yep, love it when I get to use up some of my extra craft supplies.
These are soooo cute. And a great way to use your supplies. I bet your daughter loves the tags.
Yes and so did her friends…..they wanted me to make luggage tags for them as well.
Denise! I love it! I pinned it for later because your big sign told me to – kidding 😉
I love that sign, too. Is it a photo you add to your post? And how come that when hovering over that photo no “pin”-button appears?
Thank you. The “pin it for later” is an image I made after seeing it on someone else’s page. I thought it was attention getting….and apparently it works because you pinned it. 🙂
You luggage tag is so cute. I love the idea of making things from all the left overs.
Thanks for sharing at Waste Not Wednesday.
Fun! My girls just went on a trip and got their own luggage before going, they would love something like this.
That’s such a cute tag.
Thanks Deborah
Love how the tags turned out Denise. Your daughter is definitely going to have the prettiest luggage on her trip.
Yes, and she loves the tags too.
