My Whole30 Journey: Day 12
Today is Whole30 day 12 and I just suddenly realized that I am pain free. I have had a bad back and daily pain for 6 years with no resolution after tests, physical therapy, X-rays, MRI’s, medication and anything else you can think of. Typically my back pain is worse on some days more than others but I noticed the other day that my back was bothering me less and less and today I have had no pain at all.
I also have a torn meniscus in my left knee that isn’t quite bad enough for surgery. So I baby my knee and make sure I don’t wear high heels two days in a row, I don’t do deep squats and I don’t twist my knee. But I noticed that my knee pain isn’t there like it was before.
If this is a side effect of the Whole30 diet I may be on this plan for the rest of my life.

My Whole30 Fitness {Fitbit Steps}
4,800 steps logged today. While I am no where near my 10,000 daily step goal, what I have learned from documenting this journey is the lack of movement during my work day. No wonder why I have gained 40 pounds in the last 8 years. I am so looking forward to warmer weather so I can walk during lunch.
My Whole30 Feelings {disappointed}
Tonight was the first meal I had that was disappointing and left me hungry. We had a vegetable stir fry with sausage and the sausage was disgusting. I picked out all of the sausage and ate a bowl full of veggies and then grilled a piece of fish which was amazing and helped make up for the crappy sausage. Lesson learned.

So excited for you being physical pain free- but sorry about the yucky sausage- ?
Pain free is the added bonus I wasn’t counting on. I have had back pain for 6 years and it is so nice to get out of bed and not have pain. OMG…that sausage is for sure on the NO list.
Played catch-up on your past 5 posts…glad to see you are going strong! And that’s too bad about the accidental cheat, although it was much better than mine. One day I was feeding my toddler yogurt, and unconsciously licked the spoon! Another day I ordered a salad and realized afterwards that there were black beans in there. Then there was the herb butter Salmon that I ordered. I guess that “automatic consumption” coupled with lack of sleep can cause dangerous brain farts!
And part of my motivation to get through this challenge was to help my Rheumatoid Arthritis. And my pain has been much lower the past few days especially. Just hope I can stay strong-willed after I’m through with the challenge. I am afraid my sweet tooth will come back with a vengeance after this!
Keep up the good work and good blogging…it’s helpful!
Welcome back Ashley and thanks for cheering me on. I totally get the challenge of what I like to call “thoughtless eating”, you just do things out of habit and don’t even realize you do it. That was my biggest struggle the first two days….I wanted to pour creamer in my coffee, I wanted to butter my veggies and put cheese on my taco salad. I have to say back pain dropping is a true motivator for me to keep this up as long as possible. Don’t let the struggles get to you…keep pushing on and you too will have a successful experience….and keep coming back! It’s nice to know someone besides my friends and family reading about my journey.
I asked my daughter if her headaches were gone and if she was sleeping better but she has not noticed a significant improvement yet. We will persevere! So glad for you though! I remember reading one of the reasons to try W30 was for joint pain. So yay!
My mom couldn’t shake her headache so she added yogurt back into her day. Yes, I am thrilled that my joint pain has significantly decreased.
