Whole30 Day 6: Food Prep Is Key

My Whole30 Day 6 Journey

It’s Whole30 day 6 and I am learning quickly that food prep is the key to being successful with this journey. In no particular order, these are my top tips for food prep.

All the pictures in this post are my breakfast, lunch and dinner prep for tomorrow. {Eggs, bacon, fruit, salad, instant pot roasted chicken.}

  1. Making my lunch the night before sets me up for success the next day and saves time in the morning.
  2. Cutting up fruit and veggies make snacking and packing quick and easy.
  3. Menu planning for the week and shopping for the menu makes dinner time so much easier.
  4. Hard boiled eggs in the fridge at all times makes for a quick breakfast, salad topping or snack.
  5. Using the crockpot for large batches of pork and cooking a whole chicken not only saves time but they are amazingly delicious and tender.
  6. Keep compliant snacks with you at all times. {Thank God for Larabars and almonds.}

My Whole30 Fitness {Fitbit Steps}

Today was a busy day which is why I didn’t eat much for breakfast and lunch and then chowed down on dinner. Although my eating was a little off balance today the busy day brought me 5,500 steps without trying. My goal for tomorrow is to take some time out of my day to actually go for a real walk and do better than I did today.

My Whole30 Feelings {accomplished}

Although it is only Whole30 day 6 for me, I already feel so accomplished for making it this far without any cheating. {Not that I haven’t been tempted.} On the Whole30 website there was something written along the lines of….drinking black coffee isn’t the hardest thing you’ve ever done in your life. That one sentence struck a cord with me because the last year of my life I have been living a mother’s worst nightmare. My 23 year old son unexpectedly passed away in his sleep from a brain hemorrhage. If I can make it through the last year of hell I can certainly make it 30 days with clean eating. That’s my motivation and thought process on this challenge and I plan to finish this challenge with the motivation to keep going.

You can continue to follow my journey at Whole30 day 7.

    Thank you for the tips on being prepared- I do think that’s key! I’m so happy that you’re feeling better and seeing results.

    My heart still hurts for the loss of your son and I know he would be proud of you for taking care of yourself in this way.

    Keep on keeping on girlfriend!??

      Sheila…yes being prepared is key and not all Larabars are allowed. There are quite a few that have peanuts in them. I stick with coconut, apple, lemon and key lime. Thank you for your kind words about my son.
