Whole30 Day 10: Hidden Ingredients

My Journey: Whole30 Day 10

Whole30 day 10 was going well until I accidentally cheated. {Keep reading.} So I read somewhere on one of the million pages I looked at prior to starting this challenge that Chipotle food ingredients were clean and an option while doing the Whole30 challenge. Silly me didn’t do the research myself until today after I ate my lunch.

I was going to get carnitas but there was a sign posted that said they were using pork that met the requirement of humanely raised but did not support their antibiotic standards. {Meaning the pork had been treated with antibiotics.} So my thought process was to pick chicken instead, keep my meal clean and skip the chemicals. So I got a burrito bowl with double grilled veggies, chicken, tomato salsa and guacamole. Later after I ate I was thinking that the guacamole was really creamy and wondered if they put sour cream in the guacamole.

On the Chipotle ingredient list the guacamole is clean but the chicken and veggies are NOT clean because they are cooked with Rice Bran oil which is grain based. Ugh! Here I was thinking that I made a great choice today and was able to enjoy a meal out with my family. If I had to choose between the two the bran oil on the chicken and veggies is better than the antibiotics that were injected into the pork. {At least that is my reasoning.}

My Whole30 Fitness {Fitbit Steps}

I should probably just remove this section because I am not making progress in this area. 3,500 steps and I walked the Flea Marketing today!

My Whole30 Feelings {disappointed & duped}

I am so disappointed that there are hidden ingredients in just about everything. Reading labels is so enlightening but going out to eat takes more effort and planning which really takes all the fun out of eating at a restaurant. I am bummed that my planned out meal at Chipotle ended up being a cheat. {Unintentionally, but it still bugs me.}

Also, my girls have decided that they want to continue to the Whole30 challenge but they want Sunday to be a planned “cheat” day for them. I that is very reasonable and will help them be more successful for a longer period of time. This isn’t about being perfect but learning how to eat better.

You can continue to follow my journey at Whole30 day 11.

    What a bummer that you accidentally ate ingredients you thought weren’t there. It’s so hard going anywhere to eat out. It must be a nightmare for people with deadly allergies.

    I’m glad you didn’t let it trip you up, and yay for your daughters wanting to keep it up.

      I know…it was a bummer but I have moved on past it. When I have been searching for foods with no sugar I was thinking how hard it is for a diabetic to monitor their intake because it is literally in everything and there are such limited choices for sugar free foods. The food industry is poisoning us and the medical industry isn’t helping too much either. It’s all driven by greed. OK…I am off my soapbox now. Back to clean eating.

      That’s the exact mindset I took on but it really opened my eyes to hidden ingredients and the importance of reading labels and nutritional information.
