Shark Zone Stenciled Pallet Wood Sign

This stenciled pallet wood sign is my submission for the Monday Movie Challenge. Can you guess the name of the movie that inspired the theme for this month? {Insert scary Jaws music right here.}

I remember watching the movie Jaws and never wanting to go to the beach ever again. Thankfully, I have gotten over my fear because the beach is absolutely one of my favorite places to be.

I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do for this challenge but then my husband asked me when I was going to get rid of the pallets sitting on the side of our garage. Uh oh….the Mister is onto my stash and I was afraid he would do something drastic like use it for fire wood!

To make him happy and meet the challenge rule of making something based upon the movie Jaws, I opted for a quick and easy stenciled pallet wood sign that will look cute hung by the pool.

Assembling stenciled pallet wood sign

The best part is my husband complained about the pallet wood stacked on the side of the garage and then I gave him my idea on how to recycle the wood into a sign and he made it for me. He’s a good man.

My instructions were simple. I need a sign that looks rustic and worn, is long enough and wide enough to stencil the words “shark zone” and has a hanger on the back to attach it to the pool gate.

He used his Sawzall and cute off  4 pallet slats. He used his Circular Saw to cut the slats to the length of 28 inches. He used his Nail Gun to attach them to the two braces on the back of the slats. You see why he was happy to make my wood sign? Yes, he got to use power tools and whole bunch of other gadgets in his workshop.

Once the sign was assembled it literally took me minutes to stencil the words “shark zone” with my white homemade chalky paint. Then I took some aqua homemade chalky paint and added a border around the edge.

    Denise,

    haha I have some old windows on the side of my house that my husband may make disappear if I don’t do something with them soon 🙂

    Anyway, I love how your sign turned out! It’s super cute.
