Whole30 Day 28: Food Addiction

My Journey: Whole30 Day 28

Whole30 day 28 has got me doing some deep thinking about how this challenge has opened my eyes to more than healthy eating but how food can easily be an addiction and coping mechanism. I have struggled with my weight since I was 14 years old. I saw my mom struggle with her weight, yo-yo diet, have weight loss surgery and still not be happy with her weight. Sadly, I have fallen into her footsteps and followed her exact path….and I too have not been happy with my weight.

Food has such a prominent place in our daily lives and the food industry is making sure they continue to feed the addiction to sugar and processed foods. The Whole30 challenge has made me see that I do have control over what I feed my body and I don’t have to consume poisons and toxins because there are other clean food options available.

Whole30 Exercise {Fitbit Steps}

Today was such a crazy busy day at work that I didn’t even have time to make something different for dinner. I basically ate my lunch meal twice because I was too tired to make something else. I did however log 7,800 steps today and that should make up for the shortages on the other days this week.

Whole30 Emotions {strong}

Since 2007 I have gained 5 pounds per year and this year I am taking those 45 pounds off and I am going to be happy with myself too. Over the last year I have learned so much about myself and being emotionally “strong” wasn’t anything I considered until I was faced with the unexpected loss of my 23 year old son. On a daily basis I draw upon my inner strength to move forward (some days it’s harder than others) but it is that same inner strength I am drawing upon to love myself enough to move past using food for comfort. Food addiction is strong but I am stronger.

      Thank you Sheila and thank you for sticking around to cheer me on throughout my journey. Are you going to keep going or are you done now?

    I’m so proud of you Denise! He’s addiction and comfort eating are so hard to combat. I’ve struggled with my weight since I was a girl and yoyo up and down by 20 pounds. But I refuse to do ahh crash our gimmick diets and instead stick to whole foods and reasonable portions as much as possible.

    Keep fighting the good fight!

      Thank you Toni. I do like the food I am eating and the way I feel is even better. I plan to keep going and meet my weight loss goals this year.
