Golden Arrow Bookends & CCBG #23

Happy Thursday! Once again, I’ve joined up with my crafty friends from the Creative Craft Blog Group {CCGB} to bring you our weekly Link Party CCBG#23. You can linkup  any of your crafty projects or recipes below….after you read all about my DIY Golden Arrow Bookends….of course.

My 16 year old daughter asked me if I could do something with these bookends because they were too juvenile for her room but she didn’t want to get rid of them. I love that my recycle, reuse and repurpose mentality is rubbing off on her. So my hubby removed the flower piece and left me with 2 “L” shaped wooden bookends but the each had a hole the size of a dowel rod in the center.

It was a light bulb moment for me because the hole was the same size as an arrow and we just happened to have some unused arrows in my stash of “stuff”. {Go figure, are you surprised?} Thus the idea of golden arrow bookends popped into my head.

I broke out a can of metallic gold spray paint and added a few coats to the arrow. Then I added some of my homemade chalk paint to the “L” brackets and slightly distressed the bookends with some sandpaper.

My sweet hubby puts up with all my crazy projects and without any questions he cut the arrow in half with his Dewalt Jigsaw and added some Elmer’s Wood Glue to secure the arrow into the bookends. (I know it looks like the right side arrow is crooked but it’s just the angle of the picture.) Ta-dah….the golden arrow bookends were an easy DIY project and my daughter loves them.

Creative Craft Bloggers Group Link Party #23

How does a link party work?

Every Thursday a group of my crafty friends will host a new link party. By linking your recent homemade project to the bottom of this post a thumbnail image will be added to the collage with a link to your blog so that  we can visit your blog and see what you have been making.

Your project could be featured!

Each week one of my crafty friends and myself will choose our personal favorite link of the week. If you are featured on one of our blogs, grab this button and share the good news with your crafty friends. {Put the button on your blog and share it on Facebook too.} Featured posts will also be added to the Creative Craft Bloggers Group Pinterest Board.

My Featured Post of the Week

When I saw this Where I Have Been Pillow, submitted by my co-host Janet at Try It – Like It, I thought of the maps you see on the back of an RV. Of course it spoke to me because my hubby and I have been looking for a vintage Minnie Winnie to remodel and travel across the country. I think this pillow would be a great gift to make for anyone that likes to travel or camp. Thanks for the inspiration Janet….I love this pillow.
