Chalk Painted Farmhouse Umbrella Stand

This chalk painted farmhouse umbrella stand adds a touch of whimsy to my entryway but also some much needed organization that I have been striving to create throughout my home.

Farmhouse umbrella stand in my foyer

How many times has it been raining and you find yourself digging through the closet to find an umbrella and then suddenly realize it’s in your car? I hate when that happens.

As you know, I am addicted to flea market finds and decorating with flea market treasures so it should come as no surprise when I found this umbrella bucket at a flea market for $5. I was fond of the price but not too fond of the scratched up wood and the color of the wood just wasn’t my style.

Getting organized with my chalk painted farmhouse umbrella stand

I loved the octagon shape and the height of this umbrella bucket and the lion head handles caught my eye right away but I immediately had a plan to give it a makeover and create a cute farmhouse umbrella stand for my foyer.

I know it’s hard to believe, but I don’t paint everything I pick up at the flea market but this umbrella stand was in desperate need of a farmhouse makeover and called for a few coats of my homemade chalky paint.

I added a few coats of my favorite light gray chalky paint and I even painted over the lion head handles. After the chalky paint dried I pulled out the sandpaper and went to town with some light distressing. I love how the handles look with the paint worn off.

Once I achieved the desired distressed look I was looking for I thought about adding some stenciling to the umbrella stand but opted to go with some cut vinyl. I haven’t done much with the Silhouette {affiliate link} and definitely need more practice but adding this vinyl decal was easy enough for a beginner.

Now I am ready for the next rainy day with an organized foyer and a cute farmhouse umbrella stand too.

Love the lion head handles I certainly see why you snapped it up. The addition of the label really modernizes the umbrella stand. Very nice makeover.

I always pass umbrella’s stands at the flea market because I don’t know what to do with them. This is such a lovely makeover!
