Chocolate Chow Mein Noodle Cookies have been part of my cookie life forever. I remember when my mom first made these cookies and people thought she was crazy. Who mixes chow mein noodles with chocolate chips? But after one taste and learning that they were no bake, four ingredient cookies…. everyone quickly becomes a fan of Chocolate Chow Mein Noodle Cookies.

My cookies are for the baker that doesn’t have time to bake but still likes to get into the festivities of doing a cookie exchange. I promise, these cookies will leave a lasting impression and people will be begging for the recipe.

Ingredients for Chow Mein Noodle Cookies

  • 1 can of Chow Mein Noodles
  • 1 Jar of Dry Roasted Peanuts
  • 1 Bag of Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 Bag of Butterscotch Chip

Mix the chocolate chips and butterscotch chips and melt them over low heat on the stove. I have done this in the microwave as well but either way you have to be very careful not to over heat the chips or the chocolate will seize and you’ll ruin the binding agent for the cookies.

Once the chips are fully melted you can add the can of chow mein noodles and stir until all the noodles are coated with chocolate. {Tip: I try to break the noodles as I stir so the cookies are easier to eat.}

Next you will add the peanuts to the melted chocolate and stir until all the peanuts are coated with chocolate. {Tip: If you are not a fan of peanuts you can reduce the peanuts to half and add a second can of chow mein noodles.}

Next you drop the chocolate mixture in tablespoon portions onto wax paper. Depending on the temperature of your kitchen they should naturally harden within 20 minutes but you can also speed up the setting process by putting them in the refrigerator.

That’s it. Total cook time is the few minutes it takes to melt the chips and stir in the chow  mein noodles and peanuts. Dropping them on the cookie sheet and cooling is about 30 minutes total.

      I have many happy memories with these cookies too. My mom always made them for her Christmas cookie trays.

    It’s been too long since I’ve had these little treats! We used to make them when I was kids, but we didn’t add nuts, which I now add to everything I bake (or don’t bake 😉 ) I can’t wait to have these again and go down memory lane!

    Denise,
    Ok, I think I could eat a fair amount of the noodles just plain. Now, add the chocolate and wowza! I’m sure these are so amazing that it is hard to just eat one! Great cookie post, my friend!

    I have made these lots of times. They are my husband’s favorite. I have always bought the can but they only had the bag and I don’t know what the size of the can was.
